This Math with Money course teaches the value and recognition of the four most common U.S. money coins (penny, nickel, dime and quarter). Young scholars will learn how to shop with exact coins (see it, say it, write it): identifying the cost of items, and making purchases with exact coins (i.e. 25¢ 5¢, etc.). Specifically, students will learn:
(1) the meaning of cents as a fraction of a dollar;
(2) how to recognize the four most common coins (penny, nickel, dime and quarter); and
(3) the two ways to write cents using both the dollar and cents sign.
Each lesson includes videos, quizzes, and hands-on assignments and projects that are submitted to, and checked by an experienced educator.
Young scholars will earn a certificate of achievement when they've completed all three sections of the course. The common core standard for this course is 1.MD.3 Measurement and Data- tell and write time (Subcategory: Money Identifying Coins).
